My Apologies for the simplicity of this map, but as I have discovered Map Making takes a lot of skill and I'm still learning.

But none the less, it should give you a basic idea of the lay of the land.

Covensteads holdings are the areas marked in darker green and extend a little to the east and west of what is shown on the map. To the North, in the area marked in lighter green is ElfTown Proper. And to the south is the "Lake of Dreams"

The road that marks the the top border of Covenstead is named "Ramblers Way" and leads to ElfTown in the east and unknown adventures in the west.

The streams that surround the center area of Covenstead have yet to be named.

The main area of Building will be in the center area of Covenstead, between the lake and the road to the north and south and the two streams to the east and west.

The lands to east and west will be left wild except for the natural footpaths that I am sure will be worn by those who enjoy more primitive environments.

2009-02-23 [moira hawthorne]: do members get to add what they like... like their home? and stuff?

2009-02-24 [LynnAnneBrown]: That is what I was hoping, That we'd use this as a starting place and that it would take on shape as we went along. And though I haven't marked it yet I claim that little spot in the southwest where the lake and the creek meet for my place and the large semi circle at the farthest south near the center is the place I have reserved for that beachfront area we were talking about. Also I think that the gallery and a visitors inn and other such ammenities would make sense if they were built near the road at the North End. I also want to think of things like foot bridges to cross the streams and other pavillions and gathering spaces, like a main lodge, an indoor temple for bad weather, things like that so all the input I can get is more than welcome. Also you and anyone else who wants to make a stab at improving the map itself is invited to do so. We might also want to create one in a larger scale so that the names of places are readable. Either that or number things or create simple marks for each that correspond to a legend.

2009-02-24 [moira hawthorne]: ok Im claiming my spot than... I think I may have gone over board... lol I got a little crazy adding things I love... Im not to good at scale... thats a mighty big beach!

2009-02-24 [LynnAnneBrown]: Wonderful, I love that you added the Island and all the waterfront details

2009-02-24 [moira hawthorne]: you approve than? you want to remove the top map than?... so we just keep adding to the newest version

if other people are better with scale and make adjustments... to the beach... I was gonna add docks and stuff... but I let other people do something with it first...

2009-02-24 [moira hawthorne]: oooo yes I like the homes legend on its own separate colour... instead of floating in the lake... looks too much like more islands...

shall we be keeping all the former versions of maps on here?

2009-02-24 [LynnAnneBrown]: I don't think so, but I want to keep them all for future reference. I think they would be useful for folk look at when they add their own bits and be an interesting bit of history in general. So I think a map archive would be in order.

2009-02-24 [moira hawthorne]: sure ok...

but when the page get too long maybe we can <img100: the older versions... they'd still be in order but we could have them run across the page...

2009-02-24 [moira hawthorne]: still workin on the Coventead's Map Archive huh?

2009-02-24 [LynnAnneBrown]: Yep.......

2009-02-24 [moira hawthorne]: I want to add a beaver pond and make the streams around my area not so similar

2009-02-24 [LynnAnneBrown]: Very good, I love what you have been doing so far, so let your imagination fly.

2009-02-24 [moira hawthorne]: with all the nature stuff... we needed some roddey people stuff... so added a bonfire down by the nakkid beach grove... and a quiet visitor or family or introspective one up by the gallery

2009-02-24 [LynnAnneBrown]: You are really good at this, how would you like to be Covenstead's Director of Cartography, or Head Mapmaker, whichever you prefer.

2009-02-24 [moira hawthorne]: THX U Raven1 *hugs* I can be Head Cartographer... but I still want everyone to add in their own input.. if they can... if they say they want 'such and such a feature' but cant draw it on the map themselves... b/c of program or equipment limitations.. Id be happy to help them

2009-02-24 [moira hawthorne]: Ill likely keep shifting the Legend around to conserve space and make it follow the map itself so its easy on the eye...

2009-02-24 [LynnAnneBrown]: Fabulous, I agree we want folks to feel free add their input but with you around help mesh things together we should end up with a wonderful map.

2009-02-24 [moira hawthorne]: my buildings are strange... they are viewed as roof plans... not symbols like yours... or my bonfires

ofcourse if anyone needs/wants to edit some existing feature to add something they want that should be fine as long as its done with respect to the previous artist's efforts

eventually we need all the pathways and the bridges to connect us...

2009-02-24 [LynnAnneBrown]: I would be happy if you were to update my contributions so that the map is more cohesive and more easily makes sense to the those trying to read it. My home itself is just a little cottage down near where the lake and stream meet. Also as Head of Cartography please feel free to Organize this page and Archive in the way that works best for you.

2009-02-24 [moira hawthorne]: Ill see how the next person addition play out.... other wise Ill be editing the map 20 times a day... you know... I have to restrain myself and wait for other people... but I can give you a little cabin sure..

Im sure my home is filled with more rooms... than... well most homes.... the fae like all kinds of special places..

2009-02-24 [LynnAnneBrown]: When you do could you find a place for the Great Oak, somewhere near the Gate at Ramblers Way.

2009-02-24 [moira hawthorne]: ooooo ok just asked about that... likely shift the bonfire south abit than...

2009-02-25 [Madhalf Heatlump]: We need to get the map somewhere where the whole thing and legend is showing!

2009-02-25 [moira hawthorne]: huh? its not showing?

2009-02-25 [Madhalf Heatlump]: On my normal sized monitor it gets cut off in the middle of the writing of member's homes

2009-02-25 [moira hawthorne]: oooooh... you need to adjust the resolution of your moditor

2009-02-25 [Madhalf Heatlump]: I have 1024 by 768 pixels... isn't that average?

2009-02-25 [moira hawthorne]: hummm mine is 1280 x 1024 and I get the full map

2009-02-25 [Madhalf Heatlump]: Doesn't matter... lol

2009-02-25 [moira hawthorne]: hummmmmm.... im not the most technical person on ET by a long shot... many someone else who has more knowledge can help you... it likely a small change in setting is all...

2009-02-25 [moira hawthorne]: the maps dimensions are only 800px × 768px ... it should fit nicely on the wiki page

2009-02-25 [Madhalf Heatlump]: I know... my monitor won't though...I already tried... oh well...
Don't sweat it... I can see the whole thing on the map history page :)

2009-02-25 [moira hawthorne]: is it the side banner that is cutting/overlapping it? and on the Covenstead's Map Archive is the side banner doing the same thing to the top maps?

2009-02-25 [Madhalf Heatlump]: It's the side thing yup.... yes it is on the top maps at the archive as well...

2009-02-25 [moira hawthorne]: ooooh well if we wrote more at the top it would solve the problem... but I still think an adjust somewhere in your settings would cure it

2009-02-25 [Madhalf Heatlump]: I know they would if my monitor would allow it but it doesn't so no biggy... lol
It's not like I can't see it somewhere lol

2009-02-25 [LynnAnneBrown]: I have idea, moira, because I know you have some wonderful ideas for the map but have been only waiting on wicked putting her piece in. But what I was thinking would be good is if you were to pick out a nice spot for her, make it a good size hunk, like the little island you have made for yourself, and see if she likes it when she can get to it. And when she gets here she can claim that spot or if another spot is open that she would prefer then just open up the spot we have been holding onto for others to claim, what think you.

Also I would love if a thin strip of the sand beach extended over to Alvanby so I could just walk along it when going over to Lake View Commons

And by the way that little Island that you have carved out for yourself is lovely. I think it would be fair to consider that all a part of Caledon. I think that it is fair that each of the founding households, Yours, mine and Wickeds be given a little place that we get to turn into our own little world within a world. What think you.

Although I am not looking to carve out any a larger piece for me since I already have covenstead as my playground. The cottage, the lake and stream, and the tree's behind are enough for me when I have all of Covenstead to explore and play in.

2009-02-25 [moira hawthorne]: the island really isnt mine... I just wanted one... I can extend the beach to your home... I didnt do it before b/c you may not of wanted it... I can make you an island as well.... maybe make a larger center island aswell... 3 islands sounds good... and a ferry to docks at both streams

2009-02-25 [moira hawthorne]: I dont really want to impose on Wicked's choice... I will extend the map if really needed...

also I was thinkin of a wild nymph spring behind madhalf's place... make some mountains...

2009-02-25 [LynnAnneBrown]: That sounds absolutely amazing. And the ferry docks are great. People need more that one way of getting in and out, I like that.

And Although I came up with Lake View Commons for the Nikkid beach it was mostly because I couldn't come up with anything else at the time.

I almost called it Sunnyside Beach because of the happy associations I have with it from my childhood. But I think it would be good if that could be traslated into something with a pagan flair to it. If you have any idea's...........

2009-02-25 [moira hawthorne]: hehehe SunnySideUp beach

2009-02-25 [Madhalf Heatlump]: OverEasy ? lol

2009-02-25 [moira hawthorne]: hahaha... Toasted Titteys Burnt Buns and Pink Dink beach

2009-02-25 [LynnAnneBrown]: And all with hash browns on the side.

2009-02-26 [Madhalf Heatlump]: lol

2009-02-26 [moira hawthorne]: maybe we need to note that the building on the beach is a love... sunscreen shack

2009-02-26 [LynnAnneBrown]: and other items that might be useful to happy nikkid people playing around on the beach......Volley balls, Nets, Badminton Raquets and birds.......condoms.......soft drinks.....Druinda, has assured me that her friends will make sure folk can get a bit of privacy when they want it. So I'm sure the Blind around the Beach will enjoy a lot of activity.

2009-02-26 [moira hawthorne]: somewhere to come in incase of a sudden bad weather...

2009-02-26 [Araglas]: ooohh!! I found the perfect spot for the hunting lodge!! On the otherside of the river of LadyRavenLynns lovely home!

2009-02-26 [moira hawthorne]: other side is virgin wilderness...

The main area of Building will be in the center area of Covenstead, between the lake and the road to the north and south and the two streams to the east and west.

The lands to east and west will be left wild except for the natural footpaths that I am sure will be worn by those who enjoy more primitive environments.

you can go above her place between hers and madhalfs tho...

2009-02-28 [Araglas]: ok then how about.....the lake at the top right? There's a little alcove or well bend into the river right at the lake, how about there? on the west side of course now that I know the building area! ^_^

2009-02-28 [moira hawthorne]: beside the beaver pond? sure... I get on that soon...

2009-03-10 [Araglas]: awesome! ^^ thankies!!!

2009-11-12 [dayah]: looks great..:) even if it simple its cool...* applauds*

2009-11-12 [moira hawthorne]: ooooooo havent been here for awhile tooo many other things kept needin to be done...

2009-11-12 [dayah]: giggles understand I just seen the link to it in your house and checked it out..:)
